Thursday 21st December 2017 turns out to be the worst nightmare for the family of N Savithri as she lost her 22-year-old daughter Sandhya Rani in a shocking incident which took place in public.

On Thursday evening the accused came on a motorcycle and stalked her at the Lalaguda area of Hyderabad when Sandhya was returning home.

According to eyewitnesses, both exchange some words for a few minutes, then suddenly normal talk turned into a heated argument, during this Karthik threw petrol on her, set her on fire and escaped before anyone could raise an alarm.

Sandhya took her last breath on Friday morning, she was admitted to the Gandhi Hospital with 80% burns. She was the youngest among seven- three brothers and three sisters and resident of Shanthi Nagar in Lalapet.

According to the police, in her statement Sandhya said that “Sai Karthik was her colleague at Lucky Traders, the company that they both worked at. She further said that for the past year, Karthik had been harassing her, demanding that she get married to him.

He is booked under the SC/ST Act and murder as well.

Sandhya’s neighbour tells TNM, that the family wanted to celebrate the day as it was Sandhya’s brother, N Kiran’s birthday. He works at KFC outlet.

“When the police showed us a photo of the suspect, we had no idea about who he was. Sandhya never spoke about anyone like that. She either didn’t want to trouble the family, or did not anticipate to what extent that boy would go,” She adds.

This is not the first time that any innocent girl or women left the world so unexpectedly. From the last five years or so there is continue increment in the graph of crime against women whether it will be acid attacks, cases of burnt alive, stalking, rape, sexual harassment, dowry death, Molestation, Cruelty by Husbands and Relatives, Kidnapping and Abduction etc.
