Ockhi Cyclone; Kerala CM Demands of 1,843 Crores Rupees From Centre

On 30th November cyclone “Ockhi” struck the southern part of Kerala and Tamil Nadu which takes more than 50 lives and leaving many homeless.
Ockhi also hit the coastal areas of Gujarat which leads to the cancellation of many rallies of big politicians like of Rahul Gandhi, Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath as well.
After the weekly cabinet meeting,talking to media on Wednesday Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said “This was one of the worst disasters that struck the state. The Centre has been very supportive in all aspects,”.
He also said, “In today’s meeting it was decided that we will seek Rs 1,843 crore from the Centre to mitigate the damage caused by cyclone Ockhi.”
Meanwhile, The Kerala cabinet has decided to contribute one month’s salary towards the fund.
On Wednesday again, the Coast Guard and Marine Enforcement
agencies were conducting searches off the coast of Kozhikode and Kochi recovered five more bodies which takes the toll par 50.
Vijayan also said the distribution of the aid will not be delayed.“It will be given as quickly as possible.”
Counselling would be provided to all those affected. Besides, educational needs of the children of the affected families would also be taken care of, he added.
