By – Ali Akmal

On Friday Nashida, pregnant by the eighth month boarded a private bus from the Akshaya Centre in Panchayat Padi to return to her home in Erattupetta, Kerala.

It turns out to be her last journey when she met with an accident, due to the sudden application of brake she fell from a moving bus. Meanwhile, doctors managed to save her baby, Nashida took her last breath on Wednesday. She left behind two daughters and a newborn son.

There are many reasons which lead to the death of Nashida, as no one care to give her seat. She was forced to stand in the crowded bus. Secondly, the bus driver was also driving rashly, and thirdly most important fellow passengers equally blamed for whatever happened with Nashida.

The bus driver, who was booked for rash driving still on run.

According to her husband Thaha “That was not the first time my wife travelled by bus, but it was her last. If one person had the heart to give her a seat in the crowded bus, she would have been alive and well today,”.

He also said that fellow passengers, who not even care to help Nashida, equally responsible for her death.

According to the Kerala Motor Vehicle Act, at least one seat is mandatory to be reserved for pregnant women in all KSRTC and private buses.

However, an inquiry report was asked from SP of Kottayam and RTO on this.
