Top Maoist Leader Jampanna surrendered, CPI (M) termed him a traitor

The central committee member of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and top Maoist leader Ginugu Narasimha Reddy alias Jampanna surrendered himself before the Telangana DGP M Mahender Reddy. Party’s Central Committee spokesperson Abhay held press release in which party termed Jampanna as Betrayer. “From last year Jampanna was deeply submerged in political activities and now he surrendered” press note quoted.

Jampanna was carrying reward worth Rs 25 Lakh on his head, his wife Hinge Anitha alias Rajitha also carrying a reward of Rs 5 Lakh, surrendered before Telangana Police. He was underground for more than 3 decades.

Jampanna, (55), hailed from Warangal district of Telangana, was also serving as the
member of the CPI-Maoist central regional bureau and Central Military Commission. He and his wife said that from now on they will love to lead a normal life.

However, The CPI (Maoist) said incidents like this, like the surrender of senior leaders etc, does not affect the policies of the party.

Jampanna was famous as an expert in military operations and also served as the head of Odisha State Committee’s military commission, He mostly worked on the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border. He played a vital role in expanding the Maoist influence in Kandhamal to Kalahandi forest belt.

He was associated with CPI (Maoist) from last 33 years and was involved in more than 100 cases of various offenses across the country, including 51 in Telangana. He was allegedly involved in the death of Chhattisgarh Congress leader Nitin Patel.


Telangana DGP M Mahender Reddy said “Since Jampanna has surrendered, now there are 18 other central committee members left in the organisation. We, from Telangana Police, appeal to all the central committee members to surrender before the police and then get rehabilitated as part of the rehabilitation policy undertaken by the government”.
