National Green Tribunal Slammed Delhi Government

National Green Tribunal slammed Delhi government as well as neighbouring states over their action plan. Capital witnessed the alarming pollution in the first week of November. Air Quality Index were in the “severe category” in Delhi-NCR.

Environment secretaries from Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh appeared before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Friday.

After observing the level of air pollution in capital, the court directed the neighbouring states of Punjab, Haryana, UP and Rajasthan to file the action plan afresh.

The Delhi government’s plan recommends implementation of odd-even plan with some modification.

Delhi government’s counsel assured the Tribunal that it would bring the odd-even scheme as directed by the green court, which includes no exemptions for women drivers and two-wheelers.
