Is Bhim Army a real threat to Brahminical political establishment?

National Security Act (NSA) empowers the government to detain any person who it thinks can cause a threat to National security. The controversial act of 1980 is directly inspired by the Rowlatt Bills of British era which triggered the protest of Jallianwalla Bagh that later turns into unforgettable tragedy. The Act like NSA has been occasionally used in an authoritarian way to suppress civilian leaders and to crush the voices of dissent.

Recently the NSA has been slapped over the Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad ‘Ravan’ day after the Allahabad High Court granted him bail in the Saharanpur riot case.

On Thursday Allahabad High Court observed that the charges against the Bahujan leader were politically motivated but on Friday contradictory to court, District Magistrate of Saharanpur finds him as a threat to national security and booked him under the charges of NSA.

In the month of September, Azad wrote a handwritten letter from jail in which he mentioned that UP government planning to slap NSA charges over him. He wrote, that he had learned from sources in the jail that the administration (and state government) did not want him to fight for his bail, and if he did, they would book him under NSA.

Chandrashekhar was named in the FIR registered by UP police for his alleged involvement in May 9 caste violence in Saharanpur. He was later arrested on June 8 from Dalhousie by UP police.

The Committee for the Defense of Bhim Army has issued a press release in which it questioned the intention of UP government and police administration. Pardeep Narwal, committee coordinator wrote that “The Committee for the Defense of Bhim Army (CDBA) expresses shock at the act of the Uttar Pradesh government and the Saharanpur district administration in slapping charges under the National Security Act on Bhim Army founder President Chandrashekhar.”

“It appears that the decision of the district administration to book Chandrashekhar under NSA was taken a long time back and the government and local administration were keeping their options open about when exactly to move in this direction.”

Azad born in Dhadkuli village near Chatmalpur in Saharanpur. He first appears controversial in media in the year 2015 when he put up a board at his native place that read ‘The Great Chamars of Dhadkauli Welcome You’. The move badly hurt the upper caste people’s ego and a tension erupted between the scheduled caste and the Thakurs in the village.

The 28-year-old is a law graduate and professionally a lawyer who left his profession after encountering the caste discrimination in a hospital and become an Ambedkaratite activist to fight against centuries-old demon practice of discriminating human.

Azad slowly gathers the oppressed to achieve the long due political rights. Within the span of two years, Bhim Army spread in all over the Uttar Pradesh and brought 40 thousand members in its fold. It also has women wing which is very active in the region. The Army focused on the educational upliftment of the community. It runs around 300 study circles which are managed by Bahujans and for the Bahujans. The orgasation has also a Muslim wing, compromised 10 percent of Muslim youth in the organisation that openly calls for Bahujan Muslim unity which is another big threat to existing political establishment.

The young Chandrashekhar and his army is now the worst nightmare for upper caste dominance and their age old oppression. His unique leadership has united the Bahujan youth like never before. The hardcore Ambedkarite is committed to change the Brahminical order of political dominance with Ambedkar’s philosophy of governance.

Azad poses a big threat to Brahminical order and now the Yogi Adityanath government trying everything to keep him behind the bars.
